The GORE-TEX® membrane features an advanced composite made of two different polymers. One is a membrane containing more than 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch. These pores let water vapour from perspiration escape, while keeping out water such as rain. Integrated into the structure is a second polymer that prevents the penetration of contaminating substances such as oils, cosmetics, insect repellents and food substances.
For maximum performance this garment is also treated with an external water repellent that makes water bead up and roll off. This keeps water from building upon the outside of GORE-TEX® fabric making it feel heavy and cool. You can renew this finish by simply washing and tumble drying the garment. If after extended wear or many washings, the original repellent finish is depleted, you can renew it by using a water repellency restorative product to re-treat the outer surface.
